We're committed to making a significant impact on brain tumour research by maximising the potential of our regional budget. For our 2025 Research Call, we're focusing our funding on pump-priming grants—small but strategic investments designed to kick-start innovative research projects. These grants provide early-stage funding to help researchers generate the preliminary data needed to attract larger national grants, ensuring that promising ideas have the chance to develop into ground-breaking discoveries.
By prioritising pump-priming, YBTC ensures that vital brain tumour research continues to grow within our region. The key dates for our application review process are listed below.
2025 Dates:
24th March 2025
Applications Open
YBTC will open applications for £5,000 of funding to support local, pump-priming research projects. This funding is designed to help researchers cover initial costs and generate the early data needed to develop their ideas further. Applications will be open for 12 weeks. 16th June 2025
Applications Close
Applications for our £5,000 pump-priming research grants will close on this date. All submissions must be received by 5pm on 16th June to be considered for funding. We encourage researchers to apply as early as possible to allow time for any queries or additional information requests.
15th Sept 2025
Decisions Made
Between 16th June and 15th September 2025, all applications will undergo a peer review process conducted by members of our Research Sub-committee. Funding decisions will be made, and successful applicants will be notified by 15th September.
Please note - as part of the funding contract, successful researchers will be required to submit a report on their findings and a detailed breakdown of how the funding was spent within 3 months of completing their project.
